Qualifying 1: Zampieri on pole, Valsecchi hits the wall


In a cold, sunny but dry morninf, Daniel Zampieri took pole for Race 1 on the SMP Racing Ferrari F458, after posting a time of 1.57.500 in the very last seconds of a closely-fought session, which saw Nick Catsburg (SRT Corvette) finishing second, 249 thousandths behind. Ramos (Corvette V8) and Montermini (Ferrari Villorba) will be in row 2, ahead of Gattuso (Ferrari Ombra), who took the GTS pole  and Enge (Lambo Kox).

Davide Valsecchi, who posted the 7th time in his debut in the series, suffered a heavy accident in the final moments. He lost the car in the S after the stadium, hitting hard the tires backwards. The Lambo of Eurotech Engineering is heavily damaged and will not take part to today’s race. The Italian driver walked away on his feet from the car and was brought to the medical center for checks, but he seems OK.
