Jerez, Friday: Dolby and Barba as last-minute joiners

Great and warm (28°C) weather welcomed the International GT Open participants in Friday’s two one-hour free practice sessions. In these conditions, the Corvettes continued to top the rankings with the V8 Racing car of Ramos-Pastorelli posting the best time of the day (1.45.281) in the morning’s session and preceding the SRT car of Soulet-Tutumlu, three tenths adrift and fastest in the afternoon. The Villorba Ferrari of Montermini-Schirò was third-fastest, ahead of the top GTS car, the AF Corse Ferrari of Rugolo-Sdanewitsch, ahead of the two Ombra Racing F458s.

The Nova Race Nissan GT-R, which debuts in this occasion, was 6th-fastest in GTS. Contrarely to what announced, it is not Valsecchi partnering Lorenzo Bontempelli but 26-year-old Brit and former Superleague racer Craig Dolby. Another big name joining for this race is former GT Open Champion Álvaro Barba, who joins Dane Thomas Fjordbach at the wheel of one of the Drivex Porsche, with the other car of the Spanish team being entrusted to Will Paul and team owner Miguel Ángel de Castro.
