The Spa round will see for the first time an all-female line-up competing in the GT Open, as Germany’s Suzanne Weidt, already seen at the Nürburgring, will this time share the Audi R8 LMS ultra now under the Attemto Racing banner, with Michelle Gatting.
The Dane, who is not yet 19, is considered one of the most promising “fast girls” in Europe. The Århus-born, after a brilliant career in karting (she took 2nd in the German Championship in 2009 and 3rd in the Asia-Pacific KF2 series a year later), made her debut with single-seaters in 2011, taking 3rd in the Danish F.Ford Championship, before switching to the VW Scirocco R Cup, where she was 5th last year.
End of 2012, she had won a selection by Volkswagen supported by the FIA Committee “Women in Motorsports” created to foster the presence of female drivers in racing and chaired by rallying legend Michèle Mouton (here pictured with Gatting). In 2014, Michelle Gatting is competing mainly in the German Porsche Carrera Cup.
