Mac takes closely-fought maiden pole for Race 1


Five cars of five different brands in the top-5 and the top ten performers within a second: Qualifying 1 proved closely-fought and anticipates an exciting Race 1 this afternoon in the heat of Paul Ricard. Mikkel Mac took his maiden pole position, with a lap time of 2.03.957. The young Dane of Spirit of Race confirmed the good form of Ferrari, preceding Tom Onslow-Cole, also very fast with the SPS Mercedes, who had led part of the session, by only 86 thousandths.

Second row will be for Augusto Farfus (Teo Martin BMW) and Rob Bell (Balfe McLaren), with Giovanni Venturini (Imperiale Lambo) and Duncan Tappy (Garage59 Mcaren) in row 3, ahead of young gun Joffrey De Narda (AB Sport Lambo) and the first Lexus, the E.Frey car of Albert Costa.

The Sports&You Mercedes of Antonio Coimbra took the GT-Am pole ahead of the Kaspersky Ferrari of Alex Moiseev.   28 cars will form the field this afternoon.
