Race2: Montermini to lead last title assault from pole, two broken ribs for Gruber in Q2 shunt

Andrea Montermini will start from pole position today, after setting the fastest time in Qualifying 2 on Saturday morning. The Italian and his team mate Emanuele Moncini, on the Villorba Ferrari, will have to use this advantage in their last attempt to clinch the title. Soheil Ayari (who retook the points leadership yesterday) will start from position 6. Sharing first row will be the fastest car in GTS, the Lamborghini Goodsense of Peter Kox.

Qualifying 2, on dry track, was red-flagged after a severe crash between the Mercedes SLS Sports&You of Marcello Puglisi and the Porsche 911R Deboeuf of Thomas Gruber. A brake problem led Puglisi to hit violently the back of the Porsche, whose engine briefly caught fire. Thomas Gruber was brought to hospital for checks and was diagnosed with two broken ribs.
